Founded in 1889, originally named Wimbledon Old Centrals before later becoming Wimbledon FC, the club played in Plough Lane until 1991. Now, following a relocation and a new club rising from the ashes, the ‘spiritual successor’ AFC Wimbledon is set to return to their original stomping ground, after nearly 30 years away....

This is Our Town Wimbledon - Approval for Wimbledon Grounds

Merton Council has approved plans to redevelop the former Greyhound track on Plough Lane, rejuvenating the area with an all-new football stadium and more than 600 homes. New retail space and a public piazza will also be incorporated within the scheme. Being their third stadium-led pursuit, Galliard Homes is proud to be a part of a scheme that will see League One football team AFC Wimbledon return to their home ground....
